Reviews

Theses are my first thoughts for the first time listening to this album. I have never listened to any other Blue Cheer lp besides the bands first 2 lps that I own.

My Grade Scale is from 1-5 one being bad and five being excellent.

A1. Summertime Blues - The different remix sounds great but the voice is lacking youth fulness but it is raw power as seen In Vincebus Eruptum 4 1/2 points

A2. Route 66 - Executed Nicely... Who doesn't like the song.. it is a great filler for any artist and it sounds like a fun song to play. 3 1/2 points

A3. Take Me Away - This is what I like.. Bands that write there own songs. To me the song has a hint of Southern Rock. The drums and guitar stand out exceptionally well on this song. The feeling takes me back to the late 70's. 3 1/4 Points

A4. I Want You Once Again - Again it has that Southern Rock sound a slower Blues/Rock sound the song title surly gives it away. Amazingly pressed in 2012 and definitely taking you back to the 70's very well executed phenomenal guitar work.. 3 3/4 points

B1. Out of Focus - Straight up Rock & Roll. The song and sound gives off a vibe of very early 70's Blue Cheer. It is songs like this that pioneered Rock & Roll... 4 points

B2. Starlight - It has a catchy beat with hooking lyrics sounds a bit late 70's. I almost lose interest at times and right at the breaking point to wonder... "why"? Then it lifts you back up with the catchy rhythm and lyrics. "Shit they knew what they were doing. 3 1/4 points

B3. Child of Darkness - I didn't even write while I listened to this song the first 5 seconds of it I just got up and turned up the volume! after it played I
re-tracked the song and the second listen I write this.. Holy Shit! This it fucking excellent. 4 1/2 points

B4. Blues Cadillac - Hear we go.. They are the masters of this song. Straight up Rock and Roll. " The band has no fear. The lyrics remind me of a early written Blue Cheer song. 3 3/4 points

B5. Lies - Fast pace not really the Blue Cheer style I am accustomed to. I'm guessing Tony Rainier was singing this song? I wasn't expecting the change in the music vibe. This song may have to be played again but for now it is still Rock and Roll and gets 2 points

B6. Feeling ok - The song has a rocking catchy sound and keeps you focused. it is what is to be expected and blends well with all the other songs. 3 1/2

An over all rating I'm giving the lp is 3 3/4 points.

I would like to "Quote" Eric Albronda from the inside of the gatefold sleeve.

Blue Cheer 7 represents a rare look at the world's first truly Heavy Metal Band the album in an incarnation that was closest to the original great success of Vincebus Erupttum there million selling first album.

Eric Albronda is 100% correct. The only Blue Cheer albums I own is Vincebus Erupttum and Outsideinside and now this album 7. I may have to look in to some of there mid to late 70's albums.

I can kick myself in the ass for not getting the limited edition when I had the chance.
