Description

Tyrus was formed in 1983 by Mark Rauseo (guitar) , Bill Butler (keys), Mike Berardanangelo (guitar), Ken Berardanangelo (bass) , Mike "Tracey" Powers (lead Vocals) and John Casoli (drums). The name Tyrus was John Casoli's idea. It came from "TY" ranasau "RUS" Rex. It represented "Power" and "Agression" as John put it. Within 6 months the bulk of "Masters of Revenge" was recorded. This album contains all the features you expect from a traditional 80ties Power-Metal masterpiece. Songs like "Seafaring Evil", "Under Attack" or "In the nite", just to mention a few, show that TYRUS deserved by far more respect than they ever gained. During the recordings of "Masters of Revenge", John soon left the band to become a Taxidermist. Rather than adding another band member, Mike Powers swtiched over to drums and completed the album. In 1985 the band shopped the tape around and finally got "Greenworld" to distibute it.
The Tape and LP finally came out a year later in 1986 after several delays. Within a couple months Greenworld went Bankcrupt. In the meantime Tyrus had gone through 2 other Drummers Mark Bistany and the mighty Mike Albano. This allowed Mike powers to focus on lead vocals. After Albano quit Powers switched back over to drums and the second Tyrus demo "Compilation Statement" was recorded in Kansas City, Missouri and mixed at Electric Ladyland in NY city in 1987. TYRUS shopped this tape alot but didn't get any interest. In late ?87 Bill Butler left the band and drummer Brian Johnson was added. Mike Powers left the band shortly after and was replaced by Dana Fecteau. In 1988 the third Tyrus demo was recorded this time in our home town of Boston, MA at Synchro Sound. The demo was called "Electric". In late 1988 Brian Johnson was replaced with drummer Mike Bosclair. Around the same time Dana Fecteau left the band. Jay Hasge replaced Dana on lead Vocals. In 1989 Jay left the band. Around the same time Mike Bosclair was experiencing various health problems. Finally original member Ken Berardanangelo left the band. At this time Mike Berardanangelo and Mark Rauseo decided to end Tyrus and pursue other musical interests.
