Description

Ancient Grease - Women and Children First CD. Reissue of rare gritty underground guitar blues psych rock from 1970 with great snarling guitar tunes and beautiful classic rock mellow songs too. The killer dirty guitar tone and thumpin bass rules! Sounds like a cross between Writing on the Wall and Elias Hulk. Has one bonus track.

Reviews

This album is one of the absolute greatest guitar albums I have heard in my entire life (all 16 plus years of it). When I first got into hard rock I glt stuck on Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, Rush, and others of that ilk. I still like those bands but the albums that I go to the most are not those but those of Ancient Grease, Black Cat Bones, The Groundhogs, Warhorse, Warpig, Deep Purple, Humble Pie, Winterhawk, Truth and Janey, Winterkat, and Mott the Hoople. There are many others of course but I really don't feel like typing them all down and you don't want to read them all. What you want to know is the absolutely smoking guitar of Graham Williams who absolutely sets his fretboard on fire in the entire album. I have played for a while and even the blues licks on a simple scale are hard to play because of his sheer virtuosity. He transfigures riffs into works ofs art and it boggles the mind to hear it. He is not the only one member of the bad that impresses me profoundly though. The singer Gareth Mortimer is the penultimate incredibly soulful, blue, and powerful at some part oof the album. The bass is also just frenetic and brutal, throughout the album as well. Don't miss this album. It simply kicks ass all over the place.
