Description
Elonkorjuu - Harvest Time LP. Limited edition vinyl reissue of 'Harvest Time', the debut album by the Finnish band Elonkorjuu and a very sought-after collector's item in Finnish rock. Recorded almost entirely live and originally released in 1972, Elonkorjuu's 'Harvest Time' is one of the best-kept secrets of the Scandinavian prog-rock scene. With music inspired by groups like Cream and Free with more progressive and free-jam style, Elonkorjuu is one of the few bands that successfully progressed the whole heavy blues/psych rock style in a way that made them ahead of their time.
The band Elonkorjuu (translation: Harvest) came into being in Pori, Finland in 1969, when a group of highly ambitious, talented, young musicians would convene in a darkened cellar to concoct and explore new musical avenues. Such was the momentum of their musical progress, that later that very same year they had scored second place in a competition held at the House Of Culture in Helsinki. And things didn't stop there. They soon found themselves gigging literally all over Finland and gathering a very strong, loyal following in record time. The tour culminated in an appearance at a rock festival in front of some hundred thousand frenzied youth in Turku, who could simply not get enough of the band. By the year's end, it was decided that the group best consolidate their newfound success and record an album. This resulted in the LP Harvest Time. The album managed to capture the many skillful facets of this remarkable band both compositionally and instrumentally, ranging from hard rock to more emotive, slower pieces. It's a firm favorite among fans of progressive rock and has long ago attained 'cult status.' Sadly though, this was Elonkorjuu's one and only album. (sealed)
