Description

Satin Whale - Lost Mankind LP. 1979 Japanese pressing of the second album, originally released in 1975, by German progressive/symphonic band Satin Whale. Including contributions from American singer Ken Taylor, 'Lost Mankind' is an essential piece of German mid-'70s rock. The album was originally released by Telefunken/Decca's subsidiary Nova in 1975. According to Steve and Alan Freeman (The Crack In The Cosmic Egg), Satin Whale was influenced by many of the bands that had preceded them: Jane, Sahara, Os Mundi, blending powerful rock ballads with dramatic instrumentals that featured classical and jazz elements and a notable comparison with Camel in the use of keyboards and flute. Lost Mankind is a rather essential album of German rock in the mid-seventies. (ex++/ex+, cover is m- but the obi has some fading along the left side)
